ATCs & ACEOs
What are they?
ATCs (Art Trading Cards) are free 2.5" x 3.5" cards created using any medium the artist wishes, and traded (usually in person, but also via mail) with other artists. They are signed and dated by the artist on the back. These cards are traded freely and not meant to be used for profit. The idea of trading cards makes it an equal exchange of energies. This is a relatively new artistic phenomenon created by artists for artist. What a great way to meet fellow artists as they are generally traded during a large trading session without the interference of the business side of the art world.
ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) are similar to ACTs in that they are the same size, but can be bought, sold and traded. They are also signed and dated on the back by the artist. ACEOs can be original artwork or prints/copies of original artwork. Open Editions are prints/copies of original artwork where there are unlimited numbers of cards available. Limited Editions are prints/copies of original artwork with a limited number of cards available. Original artwork is the unique, original piece of art created by the artist in card format. This card is the most valuable and most sought after. This is back to the business side of the art world.
I will create both and let you know which are which. Can't wait to get started! =)
